Message From Our WCJH PTA President

Happy Fall Y'all!

I am always so happy when I can officially say that! I love me some fall weather, steady cool fronts blowing in, and milder temps. It also means it's football season, and I am a Texas girl, so need I say more? I know that with social distancing and strict attendance guidelines, we can't all enjoy the sporting events that the kids are involved in, but I hope that you can find unique ways to celebrate those that you know who are active in sports. It's definitely a unique time to be an athlete and a parent/spectator.

With that said, I know that the orchestra, band, and choir are looking at alternative, likely virtual, ways to let their students shine and show off their talents. Please be supportive of the arts. With these activities going virtual, it gives more of us access from the comfort of our own home! If you are anything like me, you can sit in your comfy pjs and enjoy the performances just as much, if not more, as being in a crowded room up at the school dressed in clothes that don't quite fit the COVID 15 that I've gained in the last 6 months!

Our PTA is currently working very hard to find new and innovative ways to do fundraising/programs. We have an Executive Board Meeting this week with some hot topics so look for more specific information in our next Newsletter - October 22nd!

No matter what you and your kids are doing - sports vs. arts, KVA vs. F2F, or something outside of school all together, I hope that you are all navigating these unprecedented times with patience and grace. If it's something we all need more in the world right now, it's being more understanding and tolerable of others. Which brings me to... if you see me in my boots in 80* weather, just smile and nod, and know that when I "picked myself up by my bootstraps" earlier in the day, it was probably a chilly 50° ....OR maybe, I just wanted it to be.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Julie Aasmyr

WCJH President 2020-2021
